Blog Draft

Females are usually referred to as a ‘chic’ and are seen as people who are not capable of accomplishing things that men are capable of a woman is seen as a weak person someone whose opinion does not matter in the ‘real’ world. They are viewed as those who should be in the house to take care of household issues. They are the mothers of the family.

Women as are seen as not very smart or just sex tools. Growing up certain examples of how this plays out comes to me. in most TV shows girls are portrayed as dumb-usually not as smart as men-in music videos they are what we call video vicksons (video hores).

Women of pop culture are viewed as either sexual tools or people that are not very smart to know the things that are happening like they are seen as those you are not seen in the to be able to perform in the intellectual world and achieve certain goals that men are able to achieve. Take a character from the TV series glee. Brittany is a member of the cheerios-the cheerleading squad at her high school-she is also a member of the glee club she is portrayed as a ‘dumb blonde’ in episode 10 season 2 of glee, the Christmas episode she decides that she wants Santa to grant her a wish that her crippled boy friend will be able to walk again. Everyone knows that is not possible but they cant tell her. She goes to the Santa in the mall and asks him to grant her that wish. Women are in actual sense not stupid they should be able to be seen as people of equal intelligence to men and not seen as dummies.

Take also Jennifer Aniston’s character in the movie horrible bosses she although a doctor and superior to her male assistant only wants to have sex with him. She even goes to the point of black mailing him so that he will sleep with her. In most movies male doctors are not seen like that they are portrayed as responsible people of the society. This just goes to show that although woman are now played as doctors-people of higher intellect they are still looked compared to sex tools

A character in the series how I met your mother, lily Aldrin has a bad shopping habit and in this series lily is seen as a typical house wife although she goes to work she is a kindergarten teacher. She has an obsessive habit of shopping with credit cards when she feels sad. Her husband by the way happens to be a lawyer, a graduate from Columbia University’s law school. They both had an undergraduate education but lily did not further her education to become something more.

Female musicians of today show of almost everything, this is because if they had video's that did not have any sexual content they would probably would not have been watched. Take Kelly Rowland's Song Motivation the video shoes her dresses in in really skimpy clothes and boys al over her caressing her body. The dance moves she does just screams 'sex'.

  2. 1. There are several pop culture items in this blog:
    - There is an episode from Glee (Episode 10 Season 2)
    - There is a youtube clip from the movie Horrible Bosses
    - Some pictures of Ngozi Okonjo-Iwala

    2. The blog is very interesting, there are some interesting comments on it. Visually, it is not very attractive, there should be something that catches the eye of the reader.
Even though the blog is related with the topic we are analyzing it lacks a concrete main idea. Perhaps one can imply the main idea to be that women are considered weak by society. The author doesn't explain the relationship between the encyclopedia article and the pop culture examples posted.

    3. There is not a concrete main idea, rather than several claims and opinions. One could imply that the main idea is that women are considered by society to be the weak sex. The author supports this idea with some examples. However, I think the author needs to show a more concrete main idea and relate it to the examples he has posted.

    4. There are 5 paragraphs. Each paragraph is well structered, it holds an idea. However, some paragraphs don't seem to relate to each other, maybe because the main idea is pretty abstract. I don't see a relationship between the second paragraph and the other three that follow.

    5. The author has used appropiate language. It is understandable and adecquate. I don't think he needs to make any changes to the language.

    6. I see that the author tried to post some pictures but they don't seem to show up. This would make the blog much more visually appealing. I believe it lacks some visual elements.

  3. I made the comments on the blog post you had a couple of minutes ago, just before your last change. There were some pictures and the last video wasn't posted.

  4. The popular culture items that the author focuses on are a Glee episode, a clip from Horrible Bosses, and a Lil Wayne Video. I think you are supposed to focus on one item, and go in-depth about it.

    Rhetorical Awareness

Does the blog attract your attention? How or why? Does the blog have a unique main idea? Why or why not?
The blog does attract my attention, because the videos are very relevant. However, the main idea is not very unique because you are using too many different popular culture items, leaving your discussion very general. Instead, choose one or two of these and do a more in-depth analysis of each. Draw parallels between the two items as well.

    Stance and Support

Restate the main idea in your own words. Is the support sufficient? Does the author prove his point using specific examples?
The main idea of the blog is that women are considered subordinates in society, and many TV examples express this. The TV examples do a great job proving your point, but like I stated earlier, you have too many examples and the discussion is very general.

    Organization

Identify how many paragraphs the author has. Do they each focus on one idea? Does each paragraph relate back to the main idea? Note anywhere the blog gets off topic.
The author has six paragraphs, Each does a great job focusing on a main idea, but you need to relate them back to the main idea better, with a more in-depth discussion. Also, you need a conclusion paragraph that ties everything together!

    Conventions

Has the blog author used appropriate language for an audience of his/her peers that are reading a blog? How could the author improve the language choices or readability?
The language is reasonable for the audience, but you still need to work on your grammar and spelling of certain words.

    Design for Medium

How could the blog be more visually appealing?
Depends on how you feel, but add some color to the blog, and equally space and indent your paragraphs.
